Are you concerned about the risks of beverage transportation?
Wines and spirits, by their nature, are vulnerable whilst being transported or warehoused. Global, multimodal transportation involves a high level of risk. Loss or damage will occur from time to time, in spite of the precautions taken in the packing of the goods and during transportation. This can directly impact on your cost of doing business.
It is therefore very important that cargo owners properly insure their consignments for loss or damage whilst in transit. Marine insurance provides protection, peace of mind, and efficient, problem-free claim processing to help you quickly recover your loss.
What is the main purpose of Cargo insurance?
Marine Cargo Insurance covers your goods against loss or damage sustained during transport from the point of loading to final destination. It also protects the insured against the carrier’s, haulier’s or forwarder’s professional liability limits available under their respective Trading Conditions or applicable International Conventions.
What is VInsurance?
VInsurance is JF Hillebrand’s all risks insurance package, tailored entirely to the specific needs of the beverage industry.
Insuring your cargo through VInsurance provides peace of mind via its extensive cover. As the insurance is managed by JF Hillebrand, you are able to avoid unreasonable time limits when making a claim. Booking your insurance through JF Hillebrand’s worldwide network of Claims Settling Agents, you can expect prompt appointment of Loss Adjusters and speedy resolutions to your claims in 4 to 5 weeks of receipt of full claim documentation.
When should I insure my cargo?
The responsibility to insure your cargo during the various stages of transport is clarified by the use of INCOTERMS, which will help you determine the stage of transport covered by the seller’s and/or the buyer’s marine cargo transit insurance. (See the Incoterms page on our website for further details). JF Hillebrand logistics services do not include cargo marine insurance. Subscription to cargo marine insurance must be requested in writing.

*VInsurance+
VInsurance+ is an insurance package which offers cover for thermal shocks. It is only available when using operating reefers or for shipments insulated with JF Hillebrand’s VinLiner integral full container or pallet-cover products. There are however some areas and times of the year when the combined availability of VinLiner and VInsurance+ is restricted. Further details on VinLiner and the availability of VInsurance+ are available from your local JF Hillebrand office.
Where & how can I find out about environmental risks to my cargo?
Please contact your nearest JF Hillebrand representative to ask for a download of VinRoute, which will provide detailed information on the routing and external climatic conditions your cargo will face. This will allow you to make a better informed decision as to which transport equipment to book, be it a dry container, VinLiner container, operating reefer container, or even airfreight.
