Constellation endorse Trans Ocean’s innovative solutions
29th July 2010

Trans Ocean, Hillebrand Group subsidiary and global leader in wine bulk liquid logistics, is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a new contract to handle all wine imports into Constellation Europe’s UK facility – the largest of its kind  in Europe.

Building upon our existing working relationship, this new contract is a major step forward to take advantage of the considerable supply chain savings and environmental benefits that Trans Ocean can provide.

Trans Ocean will manage both bulk and cased wine movements from Europe and the New World into the Constellation Park, Avonmouth, with the majority moving by rail from various UK ports.

Both Constellation and Trans Ocean are dedicated to reducing carbon emissions. The new services will utilize a dedicated rail connection to transport containers from South/East UK Ports to Bristol, eliminating over one million road miles in removing thousands of truck journeys from already congested roads.

A three-year contract, signed between Freightliner subsidiary Logico and Trans Ocean, initially involves seven trains a week from the South East ports. These are the first services operated on these routes for Trans Ocean and carry an equivalent of 8.96 million bottles each week into the Constellation facility via our VinBulk Flexitanks. With 24/7 secure terminal operations, the rail service ensures an efficient, streamlined supply chain to Constellation Park, eliminating potential demurrage costs and allowing Constellation to utilise faster shipping services into ports which connect to the rail network.

Trans Ocean, as part of the total supply chain solution is also providing Constellation with two mechanical Mobicon straddle carriers to simplify bulk container handling at Constellation Park. The straddle carriers will be used to move containers from chassis on arrival to the holding area and discharge points within Constellation Park.

Hillebrand Group's, Tom Yusef said “We are delighted that Constellation, one of the largest premium drinks companies in the world, have the confidence in the quality and value of our services and solutions to their business, to make this level of commitment”.

JF Hillebrand win Best Logistics Company 2010
18th May 2010

JF Hillebrand, the leading logistics provider in the global wines and spirits industry, has been named the Logistics Company of the Year at the Drinks Business Awards 2010. The awards were announced at this week’s London International Wine Fair.

The judges were impressed by JF Hillebrand’s commitment to continuous improvement and said that the company has consolidated its position as a leader in its field, demonstrating a “competitive, professional and friendly service.”

And as one judge commented after reading the entry: “They know what they’re doing. They’re constantly adapting to meet the needs of our industry. They get what the wine industry is all about and work hard to be a part of it.”

This is the fourth time that JF Hillebrand has won the award in the last six years. Managing Director David Mawer says it is the dedication and expertise of the global team that makes the company an award-winning one.
“We offer a service to the wine and spirit industry that the general logistics companies cannot match. And to then win an award ahead of other finalists who also specialise in the drinks industry is especially gratifying. ”

JF Hillebrand is able to offer specialist wine logistics services whether customers are shipping a full container load or just a few cases. This ensures quality control (for example through the use of specially designed foil linings, VinLiners, for the containers) while giving importers and retailers the flexibility to ship exactly what they need, when they need it.

JF Hillebrand sponsor World Wine Tour 2010
20th May 2010

JF Hillebrand is this year sponsoring and supporting a project called World Wine Tour, a charity event whereby 2 people will travel the globe collecting wine bottles from participating wineries.

All bottles will be shipped back to California via JF Hillebrand, where an auction will be held at Robert Mondavi Winery in 2011. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Lao Rehabilitation Foundation Inc, helping change lives in Laos. The Charity works on a variety of projects, from caring for a school for blind children, to operating medical missions in remote areas, to building schools, building clinics, and bringing medical supplies into the country.

The charity is currently supervising the construction of an aquaduct to bring water to a village of over 500 inhabitants whose fresh water supply has dried out. The funds raised by the auction in 2011 will go to help rebuild a school destroyed by massive flooding of the MekongRiver in 2008.
